Early Life and Education
Elizabeth was born on March 3, 1945, in Seattle, Washington, to George and Helen Thompson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and went on to study English Literature at the University of Washington, where she graduated with honors.
Career
Elizabeth was a passionate educator who dedicated her life to teaching. She spent over 35 years as a high school English teacher in the Seattle Public Schools, where she inspired countless students with her love for literature and learning. She was known for her innovative teaching methods and her ability to connect with students.
Family and Personal Life
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Laura (and her husband Mark) and Steven (and his wife Jessica), and her four grandchildren, Emily, Grace, Noah, and Lucas. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who always made family gatherings special with her warmth and wisdom.
Elizabeth loved to travel and explore new cultures. She was also an avid gardener, and her home was always filled with beautiful flowers and plants. She enjoyed cooking and baking, often sharing her delicious creations with family and friends.
Community Involvement
Elizabeth was actively involved in her community. She volunteered at the local library, helping to organize reading programs for children. She was also a member of the Seattle Garden Club and enjoyed participating in community beautification projects.

Funeral Services
A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Seattle Public Library Foundation or the American Heart Association.
